What product is most cost effective for me?

Answered
I rarely use a phone for calls (less than once a day), but need around 1 GB data a month for work. I tether on my mobile at the moment ($60 plan) but the data signal is not always good where I live. What would be the best product for me when my contract runs out? I don't need other products like a hub or Foxtel.

A quick answer by me would be:

A) for the phonecalls side of things put the phone on a $100 12 month long life pre-paid option.

B) check out mobile broadband deals with a 4g unit on a "s" or "m" plan, the "m" plan if you can keep affording the $60 per month it will give you 4gig for $45 -$50 per month plus add your mro (mobile repayment option) on top of that unless you are going to buy the unit outright.

The long answer depends on a few variables:

1) do you only want the reception at your house? Or take it with you to friends, clients etc

2) signal strength is weak so may require an external antenna (which is likely to cost)

3) is nbn fixed wireless heading your way anytime soon?
