International Roaming on the iPhone

Question

International Roaming on the iPhone

Answer

Are you planning on going away and want to take your iPhone with you to stay in contact with family and friends..? Well it’s possible, you’ll just need to check a few things prior to leaving such as Telstra’s supported international roaming destinations and that you have activated data roaming before you leave.

International data roaming is turned off by default on the Apple® iPhone™. To activate mobile internet while using International Roaming with your Apple® iPhone™, please follow these four steps:

Step 1 of 4: From the Home screen, tap Settings

Step 2: Tap General

Step 3: Tap Network

Step 4: Switch Data Roaming to On.

Please be aware that the Apple® iPhone™ is a data-intensive device and can use large amounts of data - for example, by automatically checking your email on a frequent basis. The device also periodically checks for your emails even if there aren't any emails to download, which will incur charges.  We recommended you keep your “Data Roaming” settings off until you wish to retrieve data.
