The time on my mobile phone is incorrect since Daylight Saving started or ended. How can I fix this?

In 2008 the State and Territory Governments changed traditional daylight saving time to  commence  in NSW, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia on the first Sunday in  OctoberWhile Telstra's networks have been adjusted to support the  commencement of daylight saving, software on some PDAs and mobile handsets with old time settings may over-ride Telstra's network settings.

Telstra advises customers in NSW, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia to check their handsets  to ensure their time settings are correct:

Sunday 5 October

Steps to follow if you encounter a problem with your device time settings:

Step 1 of 3: Customers who find their device is displaying the wrong time on these dates are advised to turn their device off, and on again, and recheck the time after a few minutes. This should allow their device to receive a time update from Telstra's network, which will be updated in line with the  commencing of daylight saving in affected states.

Step 2 of 3: Customers who follow these steps and still have the incorrect time displayed on their device, should check if they have one of the following devices:

    • Nokia 6120c, Nokia N95, Nokia 2600c, Nokia 2680
    • Apple i-phone 3G, 3GS and 4
    • A Windows Mobile device (i-mate 8502, i-mate 9502, i-mate JasJam, HTC Touch Dual 850, HTC Diamond, HTC Touch HD, HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Snap, HTC Touch Diamond 2, Motorola Q9, Motorola A3100, Palm Treo 750, Palm Treo 850, Samsung i601 BJ, Samsung i617T BJ2, Sony Ericsson X1, LG GM730f)
    • A BlackBerry Device.
    • On  Sunday 5 October 2014 the time setting of these devices may be affected in New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and South Australia. They use an internal 'look up table' to adjust daylight saving time, some of which are configured for the old daylight savings dates. Please refer to the device-specific procedures below to rectify the problem.

Step 3 of 3: If your device is still not displaying the correct time, to ensure that your device updates correctly after the daylight saving transition, please try each of the steps listed below until the situation is rectified and the correct time is shown on your device:

  1. Turn your device off, and on again, and recheck the time after a few minutes;
  2. If you have manually deactivated Telstra's (default) network time update setting, consult your user handbook to reactivate it, and then turn your device off, and on again, and recheck the time;
  3. Manually adjust the time on your device - normally you will find this in the Settings or Date and Time menu on your device but if in doubt, please consult your user guide for more information.
