iPhone Activation & Setup - A Quick Refresher



Your iPhone must be activated by calling Telstra and via the handset before it can be used, however you can still make emergency calls to 000 and 112.

You can complete steps 1-3 before you receive your iPhone, if you're still waiting for it to arrive.

Step 1 of 9: Download the latest version of iTunes® to activate your Apple iPhone. If you don't currently have iTunes on your computer, please be aware that the download of the application will be approximately 106MB for PC or 222MB for Mac.

Step 2: Make sure that all other applications are closed before iTunes is downloaded/upgraded. Please remember to watch the screen during the download and follow all prompts as per a standard application installation.

Step 3: Once you have downloaded or upgraded to the latest version of iTunes, you should set up an iTunes account. To do this, you will need a valid credit card or iTunes voucher.

Step 4: Put your Telstra Next G® SIM card into the iPhone using the SIM tool. The SIM tool can be found in the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, 4, 3GS or iPhone 3G box.

Step 5: Open iTunes on your computer. Remember to check that you have downloaded the latest version of iTunes.

Step 6: Connect the USB cable from the mobile to your computer. A pop up box will appear to confirm your iPhone has been activated.

Step 7: When the iPhone is activated it will then automatically begin to sync with your iTunes. At this stage, a software update will be downloaded onto your iPhone – If required.

Step 8: Once the software upgrade has been completed, iTunes will begin to sync with your iPhone and will guide you through a process of syncing your contacts, calendar, music, and internet bookmarks. If you choose to sync this information it may take some time depending on how much information is been transferred between your iTunes account and the iPhone.

Step 9: Once the synchronisation process is complete you are free to unplug the device from your computer.
