Cable Gateway Max Modem and Wi-Fi Signal

Does the Cable Gateway Max Modem emit a wi-fi signal when the ethernet cable is in use? Not asking if wi-fi signal will connect to a device that has wi-fi set to off and is connected via the ethernet cable only, but if the modem emits wi-fi signal when ethernet cable is in use.

When does the modem not emit a wi-fi signal? Is it only when the modem is off?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Cable Gateway Max Modem and Wi-Fi Signal

It emits a wifi signal the entire time the device is on, unless you have turned the wifi off in the settings.

The same for your computer, your phone, your tablet, your electricity meter (if in Victoria), a lot of TVs, some air conditioners and washing machines....the list is growing.

They all go in to a low power state when the devices are not connected.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
