Netgear R8000 unable to connect

I have recently moved and got a new connection from Telstra. The existing Netgear R8000 Router is unable to pair with smart mode. Previously I had Optus Modem and never had a problem. I hope it is not to do with conflict of IP Address in Telstra and Netgear. Please advise.

What type of internet connection do you have?

What model Telstra modem do you have?

How is Netgear connected to Telstra modem? Have you connected WAN port on Netgear to LAN on Telstra modem?

Has the Netgear been set up as an access point or a router?
