Smart Modem Gen 2 on Cable - VOIP service

Hi, I have  a Smart Modem Gen 2 on Cable (waiting for NBN). Can I enable VOIP or do I need to wait for NBN? Thank you.

You need to wait for NBN. VOIP function of modem will only work on a Telstra NBN service. I think you might also be able to use it for emergency calls on non Telstra NBN services.
