Telstra Gateway Max TG799 all lights flashing

Answered

Hi, our internet suddenly dropped out tonight and all the lights are now flashing on the Telstra Gateway Max TG799 Modem. I can't find anywhere to tell me what it means when all the lights flash and continue to do so. Does this mean the modem needs to be replaced? Do I need to contact Telstra to arrange a replacement or can one be purchased elsewhere so I don't have to spend hours on the phone with them. Will be very grateful if anyone has seen this before and can save me some frustration & stress.

If you have an ADSL connection can use any ADSL modem, you don't need to get one from Telstra. I don't have that modem so I can't tell you want it means but I would try the following.

Reboot modem. if that doesn't fix it try resetting using following steps.

1. turn the device off

2. turn it back on and wait for the status light to change from orange to red

3. as soon as it turns red do the factory reset

4. afterwards the status light should go to orange again

5. wait for the status, Internet, wifi lights, and Ethernet light (if you have an Ethernet cable plugged in) to come back on

6. plug WAN/DSL cable back in

7. set modem up as normal

Once reset if lights stop flashing log into gateway and enter Bigpond User Name and Password
