Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

Answered

I have some wifi security cameras in my home that only operate at 2.4GHz they were working fine until the technician installed the new modem.  The cameras only operate at 2.4GHZ and are not compatible with the 5G network.  Can i restrict my smart modem to 2.4GHz?

Re: Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

You could disable band steering which result -5G being added to the end of the 5GHz WiFi SSID. You should then be able to connect cameras to the 2.4 GHz which will now have the normal SSID.

To disable band steering log into the modem http://192.168.0.1 (password is Telstra), go to WiFi and scroll down to band steering on the 2.4 GHz WiFi band. Remove tick and save settings.

Re: Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

This link http://192.168.0.1  will not allow me to log in, it appears to be fixed. Is there a way to gt arund this. As I have just had nbn connected and have the Telstra Smart Modem Gen2 and now I can not get my printer to connect via wi-fi. Any suggestions.

Re: Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

You could try factory reset the modem using reset button on back off modem near LAN port 2. Press for at least 10 seconds using paper clip or similar device.

Re: Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

Are you sure you have the Gen 2 Smart modem as that is the default address for the modem? Do you get any error message when you try to navigate to http://192.168.0.1 using a web browser on a device connected to the modem? What model printer do you have?

Re: Telstra Smart Modem Gen2

That is what the box states, the modem has the air holes on the side and down the bottom.  I use google chrome using the modem and Yes I got a, invalid username or password. And the page will not allow me to do anything but view.

Web Page states TELSTRA   SMART MODEMTM GEN 2   Modem Make Model Technicolor DJA0231.

I don't know what else to do now. I have spent 2 days trying to get this fixed, unfortunately I am not that tech savvy.
I have a Brother Multifunction DCP-525W, which worked prior to nbn being connected.
Hopefully you can come up with a fix for me.
