The Online light on my Smart Modem is off but the internet is still available, (speedtested at 45 mbps). My guess is that the LED has failed. Any other thoughts?

If you are getting 45 Mbps on a speed test then the modem is working on the main connection so yes the online led could have failed.
You could try rebooting the modem if still not working contact support they should provide a replacement.
