WILL UNIDEN DECT 6.0 1635 WORK AS A SECOND PHONE UNDER NBN?

Answered

Uniden cordless phone has not worked since we switched to the nbn. Our standard land line is fine attached to modem, but the uniden is still attached to the old landline wall socket. I was told it would work but so far no luck. Is there any way to make the Uniden work with the nbn? Maybe wifi??

Re: WILL UNIDEN DECT 6.0 1635 WORK AS A SECOND PHONE UNDER NBN?

So you got 1 phone plugged into the green phone 1 slot on the gateway, then you have run a cable from the phone 2 slot to a wall socket, then the uniden plugged into another wall socket somewhere?

That setup won't work. Only 1 phone port on the gateway is active. If you're looking at attempting to use your existing sockets in the house:

  1. FTTP/FW/HFC: May work straight off the bat by running a phone cable from Phone port 1 on the gateway into an existing socket. This may allow the other sockets in the house to be used. If not, you would have to get a ACMA approved licensed cabler (most electricians have this) to disconnect the lead-in to the premises. This will be at your Expense
  2. FTTN/FTTC: The above will work (phone 1 to socket), however the main socket to the house (the one your gateway is plugged into via its DSL port) will need to be isolated from the rest of you sockets first. Again you would have to get a ACMA approved licensed cabler and again at your expense.

All Telstra gateways are DECT 2 (Australian Standard), which means your DECT 6 (US standard) phones cant pair wirelessly to it
