Calls from someone supposedly at Telstra Support

Answered

I have gotta a couple of calls from people saying they are with Telstra Support and that there is a problem with my internet.  I usually just igore them but the last call I asked for here employee number and a number to call back on and she gave me her ID and the BigPond number.  But it is taking so long to get to talk to anyone at Telsra as I am on hold.  Just wondering if I am wasting my time.

Re: Calls from someone supposedly at Telstra Support

Good evening Nicely, ignore ignore ignore, they are scammers.

There's a new wave of these calls doing the rounds at the moment, they call anyone, even people who don't have a Telstra service.

The calls are normally generated by computers overseas, numbers dialed from the computer at random.

Have a look at this official Australian government warning and you'll get the drift: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/news/scammers-pretending-to-be-from-telstra-technical-support-continue-...

There's also this Telstra informational that warns also: https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/mobiles-tablets/user-guides-help/mobile-and-home-phone-s...

Most important, NEVER give out information to anyone over the phone, unless you have instigated the call.
