International Roaming

Answered
Hi, I have taken my SIM card out to avoid roaming charges while overseas, but I logged into my Telstra app(via free wi-fi) and it comes up as I have a international day pass. I am worried I am being charge the $10 a day rate

Re: International Roaming

If your SIM is not in your phone you will not get charged for the International Day Pass.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Re: International Roaming

Thanks, that’s what I thought. Just worried as my app says the day pass has been enabled. I have disable it just in case despite taking my sim out

Re: International Roaming

Day Pass is enabled by default so you don't get hit with massive excess data usage fees when your phone decides to update itself automatically when you connect to an overseas network.

Hey smhill, welcome to CrowdSupport.

Jupiter is on the money, DayPass only charges if it is active on your account AND your mobile connects to an eligible network for any reason. If the SIM is not in the phone or you leave Flight Mode on permanently, no network connection can occur for the charge to be incurred.

It's a neat little solution, it means if you use it one day and not the next, you're only charged for when you've used it. About the only tricky part is the roll over time is midnight AEST, not the country you are in.
