There are only two WiFi bands. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Most older devices and cheap devices only support the 2.4 GHz band.

The 5 GHz band is faster when close to modem, does not suffer from as much interference from neighbouring WiFi networks but the 2.4 GHz is better when located far from the modem or if there are several walls between modem and your device.
