AFL Round 22 Highlights

Tigers v Bombers

The top-of-the-ladder Tigers only just managed to beat the 11th placed Bombers by 8 points on Friday night. It was a thoroughly gallant effort by the Dons, and probably the Tigers’ Shane Edwards’ best match so far this year.

Richmond 12.9.81 v Essendon 11.7.73

Swans v Giants

The second half of the game belonged to the Swans, with Kennedy and Parker controlling the ball for most of the last quarter. While many wrote the Swans off weeks ago, the final four is still within their reach. Swans v Hawks next Saturday night. That match is sure to ruffle some feathers. Ba dum tsshhh.

Sydney 11.14.80 v GWS 8.12.60

Lions v Suns

How good is a wet scrappy match with a rivalry that’s been simmering for a while! Despite learning how to shake hands, the Suns have now lost 7 games at home this season. Brisbane won by 4 points to take 15th spot on the ladder.

Brisbane 10.18.78 v Gold Coast 11.8.74

Crows v Roos

One of the best Crows matches this year, but it’s all a bit too late. And for the Roos too. For them to get into the finals, Gold Coast need to win big over the Cats, the Bombers need to beat Port, and North must thrash the Saints. The two Rorys had a great game, and Crouch set a new AFL record (35 handballs). You gotta love Eddie Betts. Adelaide claimed a 9-point victory, and will face bottom-of-the-ladder Carlton next week.

Adelaide 12.14.86 v North Melbourne 11.11.77

Cats v Dockers

I’m sure the Dockers have always wanted to make history, but not like this. It’s Anchors away. It was the biggest loss in the clubs history, with all of their 3 goals kicked in the 1st quarter. Must have been a very long, sombre plane ride home. It's very hard to pronounce GMHBA, so I'm sticking with Kardinia Park. Next week, the Cats host the Suns at Kardinia Park.

Geelong 24.14.158 v Fremantle 3.7.25

One last thing:

In the SANFL, Norwood saw off the Roosters with a tight 15-point victory at The Parade on Friday night. That’s 13…yes 13 wins in a row. When I ask my Magic 8-Ball ‘Will it be a Norwood & Sturt Grand Final?’ it says ‘Signs point to yes’. Go you Mighty Redlegs.
