What is Telstra doing for Christmas?
Holidays are some of the most special times of the year, when most Australians come together with family and friends. If Australians can’t be with their loved ones in person, they need to find other ways to bring them closer.
For those Australians who can’t be together these holidays, Telstra is bringing everyone closer by providing free local and national calls to standard fixed lines and calls to standard Australian mobiles from selected Telstra-branded payphones around Australia, and free Telstra Air® Wi-Fi data from selected Telstra Air hotspots in Australia across the three days of Christmas, December 24-26.
Free calls exclude international calls, 13 numbers, premium numbers (eg. 19 numbers, 1234, 12456 and directory services. Satellite numbers are not standard mobiles. Excludes rented payphones. Telstra Air available for Wi-Fi enabled devices only.
What’s the Free Wi-Fi offer?
As part of Telstra’s Christmas celebrations, we’re offering free Telstra Air Wi-Fi data at over 4,000 selected Telstra Air Payphone and Telstra Store sites across Australia from midnight on Monday 24 December 2018 till midnight on Wednesday 26 December 2018.
How long is this offer?
This offer is for three days, from midnight Monday 24 December 2018 till midnight Wednesday 26 December 2018.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate! All you need is a Wi-Fi enabled device and to follow the steps below.
If you are a Telstra mobile or eligible fixed broadband customer you don’t need to follow these steps as you can already access free Wi-Fi data at over a million Telstra Air hotspots across Australia and over 20 million Fon Spots overseas. What does this cost?
Access to Telstra Air Wi-Fi data is free and unlimited during the offer period.
Where can I find a hotspot?
You can find your closest hotspot using our map at Telstra.com/air. Please note, Telstra Air Free Wi-Fi may not be available at all hotspots.
Accessing Telstra Free Wi-Fi
Step 1: When you’re in range of a participating Telstra Air hotspot, search and connect to “Telstra Free Wi-Fi” in the list of available networks on your mobile device.
Step 2: A pop-up browser should automatically open; if it doesn’t:
Step 3: Click “Connect” to accept the offer terms and conditions to access free Wi-Fi.
Step 4: You will see a screen confirming you are connected and can now access free Wi-Fi at your current hotspot.
Note: If you want to use Telstra Air Wi-Fi at another Telstra Free Wi-Fi hotspot, you will need to complete this process again.
Can I reconnect at another hotspot for more free Telstra Air Wi-Fi?
Yes! You can reconnect at any eligible Telstra Air Wi-Fi hotspot by following the steps above in “Accessing Telstra Free Wi-Fi” as long as it’s during the offer period.
Can I access free Wi-Fi at Fon spots or Telstra Air homespots?
Unfortunately free Telstra Air Wi-Fi is not available at these hotspots. Head to Telstra.com/air to find eligible hotspots.
What if the hotspot is full?
To provide the best speed and experience, the number of users on all hotspots will be limited. If you’re trying to connect to a hotspot that’s full, you’ll see an on-screen notification to move to the next available hotspot on the Telstra Air map.
What if I’m already a Telstra Air customer?
If you’re already a Telstra Air customer you can continue using free and unlimited Telstra Air Wi-Fi data as you do today.
If you have an Android or IOS device, we recommend you connect via the Telstra Air app for automatic connection. Download the app from the Google Play or App store.
Can I still sign up for Telstra Air during this period?
Yes! Telstra mobile and eligible home and mobile broadband customers can sign up for free Telstra Air Wi-Fi data at over a million Telstra Air hotspots across Australia and over 20 million Fon Spots overseas at any time. Find out more at Telstra.com/air.
Is it secure?
Telstra’s free Telstra Air Wi-Fi service is open and public. We recommend that you don’t use it to send or receive sensitive personal information or carry out activities like internet banking.
What is Telstra’s free calls offer?
As part of Telstra’s Christmas celebrations, we’re offering certain calls for free when calling from selected Telstra Payphones.
This will allow you to call your family and friends wherever you or they are in Australia, whether it be on their fixed or standard Australian mobile service, for free.
How long will the offer run for?
