Google Home allows you to manage your daily schedule, stream videos to a compatible television and control other smart devices from within your home—but did you know that it can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker?

Previously, it was possible to stream audio through a compatible app to your Google Home, but after a recent update, Bluetooth capabilities were brought to the speaker, opening up a wide array of options for you to take advantage of;

Step 1 – Pair your mobile device & Google Home

From the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app G1.png
  2. In the top right corner of the app Home screen, tap Devices G2.png
  3. Find the device card for the Google Home you want to pair with Bluetooth.
  4. In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu G3.pngSettings > Paired Bluetooth devices Enable Pairing Mode.

From your mobile device’s Bluetooth settings

  1. On your mobile device's Home screen, tap Settings > Bluetooth G4.png
  2. Turn on Bluetooth G5.png
  3. Tap the name of the Google Home you'd like to pair.

Step 2 – Connect your mobile device & Google Home

Using your mobile device

  1. Open Bluetooth settings on your mobile device.
  2. Under “Available devices,” tap the Google Home you paired to your mobile device.

Using your voice

  2. To disconnect, say “Ok Google” or Hey Google”, then either “Disconnect” or “Disconnect Bluetooth”.

(It’s important to note that your mobile device will stay connected to Google Home until you disconnect the device!)

Step 3 – Play music!

  5. Tap the X next to the device you want to unpair > UNPAIR.

Is Telstra getting the Google Home Max?

I haven't got one of these devices yet, but I have been looking more into it so I can use Plex with it.

Another reason, I think, is why Telstra should offer Plex on the TelstraTV. Since they sell both bits of hardware and Plex rocks.
