Round 22 has brought with it a new ladder leader, with the Sydney Roosters claiming the top spot from arch-rivals South Sydney after defeating them 18-14 on Friday night. The Rabbitohs fought hard to hold onto the top spot, but the Roosters claimed the win, with both teams suffering injuries.
It was an exciting win for the Wests Tigers this week, defeating the Raiders 22-20 and keeping their finals dreams alive. The Tigers have struggled against the Raiders recently, with their last four clashes resulting in defeats of 46 points or more. This weeks’ win means the Tigers are now just two points outside the eight, with games against the Dragons and Sea Eagles still to come.
It was a brutal week for the Dragons, with a shocking 40-4 loss to the Eels, falling out of the top four for the first time this year. It was the biggest win of the season for Parramatta though, which lifts them off the bottom of the ladder for the first time since March. Dragons captain Gareth Widdop suffered a shoulder injury, with staff needing to pop his shoulder back in, though he was unable to return to play.
