If you’re anything like me, you probably struggle to keep track and back up of all your important online files, documents, photos, videos, memes etc. Cloud storage can be expensive and sometimes restricting if you have different devices from different manufacturers.

Introducing Google Back up & Sync. Backup and Sync is an app for Mac and PC that backs up files and photos so they're no longer trapped on your computer and other devices.

This has replaced Photos Desktop Uploader. It’s a simplified, faster and safer way to back up and store your important files and photos online across multiple devices simultaneously.

How to download, install and set up Google Back up & Sync.

Mac:
1. Download and install the Google Back up & Sync App. Once installed move Back up & Sync to your Applications folder.
2. Launch the Back up and Sync App and and sign in with your Google Account username and password
3. Edit your Sync Settings:

Select which folders you would like continuously backed up to Google Drive. There are two options for photos back up – High Quality or Original Quality. High Quality compresses photos larger than 16 megapixels and videos higher than 1080p. These will not count against your data cap (Google Drive provides 15GB for free)
4. Click the OK button and Back up & Sync will now start uploading your content.

Windows PC:

1. Download and install the Google Back up & Sync. (If you see a window asking if you want to ‘allow the program to make changes on your computer’, click Yes. If you’re asked to restart your computer, do it now)
