Hi, we received a replacement Telstra Smart Modem today as other one was faulty.

Quick question to ask.

My signal light goes from nothing to red - is there anything I need to do?

Cheers, Karen

If its going from off to red, its going from no 4G signal to a weak 4G signal on the 4G backup. While your modem is running of the fixed line service its not an issue. However when the backup is needed it may not function due to the no/weak signal. If possible you could try adjusting the position of the modem, such as moving it closer to window or place you know in the house has good 4G coverage to improve the 4G signal reception.

I have solid green lights for signal link online and phone. However, I can’t make or get a phone call on the cordless phone. Also when all 4lights are solid green if I attempt to open a webpage it hangs...the signal light goes orange and then red then back to green and I get an error page saying I’m not connected...help

Oh also if I try to send or get an email I get an error 0x800CC0D1

If the lights are solid green until you try to access a webpage and then they drop out you have have a faulty modem.

The Mobile Signal only refers to the 4G Back-up. If your modem is connected through the NBN, this light is completely irrelevant.

The 4G back-up provides a maximum download speed of 6 Mbps, and an orange signal strength should be sufficient to provide those speeds. If your NBN service is not working and you are having to use the 4G back-up, you can try to improve your 4G signal strength by moving it closer to a window, but again, speeds will not exceed 6 Mbps and will vary depending on a number of factors.
