Prepaid sim cards

Answered

Can anyone recommend a prepaid sim card.   I would not use it excessively or have international calls on it.    I am a bit confused about the sim cards that are  around that start at $2.00 Can someone advise me how that works.   thanks

Re: Prepaid sim cards

@La4 Basically SIM cards get you started with what Pre-Paid plan you might want.

For example, the $2 SIM card gets you your number (Or you can port your current one over to Telstra) and then you choose your plan from the below link.

https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/offers-and-rates

Some people decide that they want the $30 a month plan, so they purchase a $30 pre paid SIM right of the bat, so that covers the first month.

You can also find many retailers have 50% off sales from time to time. So you could find a $30 SIM card for $15, thus giving you the $30 plan for $15 for the first month.

If you auto-recharge you can also gain a full month, rather than doing it manually that only gives you 28 days.

Telstra also have on of my favourite mobile apps called Telstra 24/7 App so that helps manage your account and keeps track of your data bank (Store unused data up to 200GB to use anytime).

Hot pineapple donut and a cuppa.... Mmmmmm

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

No worries @La4 glad I could help :-)

If at anytime you are unsure of anything else, pop back before purchasing your plan or SIM card. Always best to be 100% sure before finalizing your plan :-)

Re: Prepaid sim cards

Actually I do have another question.   If I was to cancel my post paid sim card and get a prepaid sim card with Telstra which one would be the best.   I am going to buy a new mobile and would probably need more data then I have on my present plan.   Thanks.

Re: Prepaid sim cards

@La4 From posted link https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/mobiles-tablets/pre-paid/can-i-change-from-pre-paid-to-p...

Can I change from Pre-Paid to post-paid, or vice-versa?

Yes. You change your mobile from Pre-Paid to post-paid, or post-paid to Pre-Paid. And in most cases you can keep your SIM card and your number. To change over:

I'm not sure how much data you would use? I always have my mobile set to update apps only via WiFi at home, and do any major data usage then as well. So it cuts down my mobile usage.

All my music is on my SDcard, so I don't waste data on those music apps, so I would mainly use my data for web browsing. Having a data bank is handy, although I would like to see the limits doubled at least.
