Outgoing Mail: Can't set up acount. Server does not support authentication.

Hi,
Ive had difficulties trying to send emails from one phone (Note8) with setting on Outgoing server smtp.telstra.com Port 445 SSL Authentication on. My email address is <me>@bigpond.net.au.


Wen attempting to send messages, I get message cannot send.  When checking server configuration, outgoing server, received the message "Can't setup Account.  Server does not support authentication" Also tried switching off authentication per the message and changing the port to 567 and tried authentication off and on without any success.  However on my old Samsung S5, with identical settings, (Port 465, SSL, Authentication on, I could send the mail.

What would be causing this problem with the Note8 please?

Is port 445  a typo or have you actually set up port 445 on the phone?

Thanks for reaching out. If you are still having issues sending and receiving e-mails, please try and alternate app such as Outlook to see if that helps.
