Note 10+ 5G RCS

Hi

I upgraded from a S8+ to a Note 10+ 5G.

Since changing phones, there is no option in my messaging app to enable RCS and my voicemails don't come through as Audio messages.

I contacted support via 24x7 app who said that RCS is not supported on the Note 10 yet but other people on Crowd support say it is.

Can anyone help please?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Have you updated your firmware to the latest version?

RCS definitely works on a Note 10+ 5G.

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

I have the Note10+ 4G and have the same issue - there is no option to enable RCS and voicemails don't come through as audio messages.

Firmware and apps are up to date.

@ParaLevoMay I ask whether you pre-ordered your Note10 + 5g? Mine was ordered on 9th August but no ETA....

Yes, firmware is up to date.

I'm surprised that 24X7 chat told me it was not supported on the Note 10+

I'm going to go into my Telstra shop and find out what is happening.

Same problem on 10+ 4G. Telstra telling me to talk to Samsung and Samsung is blaming Telstra 😡

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

There was a fault reported affecting RCS messaging from some Samsung Galaxy handsets recently but this has been reported as being resolved - are you still experiencing the problems after switching to aeroplane mode for a short period of time?

How Long for?

surely there is a way for Telstra to ensure it is active via some sort of network push?

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Only a few minutes and it should come back online if this has been resolved in your location.

There is however an issue listed on our Outages page for these Samsung RCS services as can be accessed at

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Nope, still not RCS.

There is no option to enable or disable in the Samsung Messages page so the faults page is irrelevant because it talks about switching RCS off.

Paying a high premium with Telstra and such I high-class phone, I'm not really satisfied with this and need some alternate solutions. Especially if you are going to charge me an extra $15 from next year to access 5G.

Someone has suggested a new SIM, are there any other options?

Can telstra do some sort of network push to my phone to enable RCS?

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Hi Everyone,

Anyone with an active Telstra mobile on a plan or pre-paid mobile service and a compatible device purchased through Telstra can use it. Wireless broadband and other data plans are not eligible.

To be eligible for Telstra Messaging, you need to:

  • Have an approved Telstra Messaging compatible device.
  • Have VoLTE (i.e. 4G Voice Calls) enabled on your service. (automatically activated by Telstra)
  • Ensure you have updated to the latest software.

If your mobile device is listed here, you are eligible.

You can find more FAQ about Telstra Messaging here

If you're eligible but experiencing issues with the service, it's best to report this to our mobile assurance team on 132200 (or 132000 if the service is on a business account).

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

I phoned mobile assurance and was told it is a samsung issue.  Pretty rude actually. I was told Telstra only deal with SIM related issues so blamed samsung as it is a phone problem.. From what I have read on the forums it seems Notes purchased through Telstra stores are working fine witn RCS and those purchased on line through samsung or other networks are not.

Does anyone have a fix?

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

The only fix is to get the Telstra branded firmware loaded onto your phone.

Has anybody done this?

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Well that sucks, my S8+ was not Telstra Branded, bought directly from Samsung and there were no issues with RCS or Voicemail coming to my phone.

Re: Note 10+ 5G RCS

Ask them why they have their own Android/Telstra branded firmware then...
