I have an old plan with no data attached to it. I purchased a new phone and when I inserted my SIM card the new phone downloaded 64MB of data. How is it that I am now being charged $128.00 for data usage when I should never had data connected to my phone??

Hi Ivx,

If a plan doesn't have included Data the default charge at a Pay as You Go rate is $2/mb.

You'll need to speak to Telstra Billing on 132200 or via Live Chat

They'll be able to look at your Account and see that you haven't been using Data previously. They should be able to reimburse you the $128.

They can also deactivate Data usage on your Account if it hasn't already been done, so you don't get charged in the future.
