Tribe Social Networking product has been exited

The Tribe social networking product is no longer available. Instead, you can use other methods to check Facebook, Twitter and Myspace on your mobile. You can use the sites provided by each social network or their respective app, where available.

What are the alternatives?

Facebook, Twitter and Myspace provide their own mobile web sites. They also provide Apps for both smartphones and many older phones that run 'Java apps'. You can download these apps by visiting each social network's site.


How much data would I use if I accessed Facebook/Twitter/Myspace directly?

This is dependent on how many times you access these sites directly and on your phone type and network that you use.


Typically, checking Facebook/Twitter/Myspace 20 times a day would use about 175MB each month.

Using a smart phone or our 4G network means that you experience faster download speeds so your data usage may be greater than this.


You can estimate your mobile data usage or keep track of your data usage by downloading the Telstra 24x7 app.


Please Note: that we find that the majority of Tribe customers currently use less than 100MB per month.


Will it cost me to use social networking sites/apps directly?

If you have data included in your plan or have added a data pack on to your account and you are not presently using all the available data each month, then there may be no additional charges.


However, if you are concerned about going over your data allowance or believe you will need extra data, we recommend you choose a plan or recharge offer that includes data or take up a data pack.


How can I keep track of my data usage?

Also if you take up a data pack you are automatically signed up to SMS alerts so that you are notified when your usage hits 50%, 85% and 100% of your data allowance.


What else can I do to limit my data usage charges?

We recommend you take up a data pack. Even the smallest data pack will give you some extra data at a lower rate and may also put you on a lower excess data rate, saving you 95% of standard PAYG charges.
