I changed from plan to prepaid by ringing the Prepaid team on 1258887.
I bought a recharge voucher from my local newsagency at the time (you can also purchase them from a supermarket or Telstra store), rang Telstra Prepaid and gave them the voucher code to put the recharge on for me.
I told them that I wanted to change from my plan to prepaid and also wanted to still be able to use my mobile while the swap over took place.
I also asked the consultant to ring me when it had changed, which she did.
It was changed within 1 hour, but this was maybe 2 year's ago, so might take longer than 1 hour now.
