Telstra Broadband protect changed DNS settings

Answered

After installing Telstra Broadband protect I noticed custom DNS settings on Windows 10 PC no longer worked. Although the correct DNS were set in the Network IPv4 settings of adapter when I performed an ipconfig command the DNS was shown as set to gateway instead of the custom DNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220)

"Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : gateway"

I have uninstalled Telstra Broadband connect due to this and several other reasons but the custom DNS settings still don't work.

Has anyone had this problem before and did you manage to get your custom DNS settings working?

"Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : gateway" does not mean that you are using it as a DNS server...

nslookup without any parameters will tell you what is your default DNS server...

Re: Telstra Broadband protect changed DNS settings

Found the solution to why opendns dns setting were not working as expected. Was using Edge browser for testing. The link on the test page https://www.opendns.com/setupguide/#results does not work when using Edge as the browser works Okay with Chrome and Firefox.

Still don't understand why ipconfig command shows Gateway as the DNS server instead of the correct DNS server.
