Outgoing host name

Answered

I use a Primus email address through my Bigpond Account. Don’t use BP mail at all. Setting up Mail on new XS Max - can receive

Incoming mail OK, but have used every possible Outgoing Host Name as per the Telstra Support but absolutely no luck in being able to send emails they just sit in the Outgoing Mail file. Thanks from Lulu

Re: Outgoing host name

For Primus email the smtp.iprimus.com.au should be used as the outgoing server.

Because you are using non Primus internet authentication should be set up in the email client. Set outgoing server to Password authentication and SSL off

One other thing that might prevent the outgoing mail working is using port 25 on outgoing server which is the setting for Primus mail outgoing mail server. If still not working try setting outgoing port to 465.

Re: Outgoing host name

Try these settings for the outgoing server:

  • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure - Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
