I have received two emails purporting to come from Telstra, with details as below. They contained my correct full name which was given to Telstra via their 24x7 Chat service within the past 48 hours. It would appear that Telstra may have a security problem with conversations on their Chat service.
< REMOVED - as legitimate>
Telstra users need to be aware of this problem. If there had not been two identical emails suspicions may not have been quickly arroused.
I was unable to report this through any other means. Link in spam reporting advice article went to http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html which was of no use.

Thanks for reporting this Westernpete. It's good for people to be made aware of these scams that are so prevelent these days. I found this link that you could report this on also... https://service.telstra.com.au/customer/general/surveys/Report_misuse_of_service
Alll the best!
These are not scam emails - and those account numbers are legitimate. I have removed them from this post.
I would recommend chatting to our Live Chat team here: http://tel.st/49kl and they'll be able to tell you why you've received these.
