When I send mail by the SMTP mail server associated with my Web site/domain name (not Telstra hosted),, to a Bigpond address (several, both and, I get a bounce message back:



A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
all hosts for '' have been failing for a long time (and retry time not reached)

I've contacted hosting support for and they say there is no problem at their end.


The problem started relatively recently (end of Oct, beginning of Nov??) and had been working before that.


I've made 8 calls/transfers to various Telstra departments, and have got nowhere.


Hopefully someone can determine what the problem is (be it at Bigpond or at the outgoing mail server).


I can send full mail headers if required to someone (privately, I presume).
