This plan has been discontinued. It’s no longer available to new customers or for existing customers to switch to.

This article provides important information about the plan inclusions to customers currently on Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Data Pass.

How do I find out what plan I’m on?

Not sure if this is your plan? See here for instructions on how to check and change your offer.

 + Recharge inclusions

Depending on the amount you recharge, you’ll get Recharge Credit and included data to use in Australia.

Here’s how you use your included value:

Data

  • To use in Australia

Recharge Credit

+ SMS and MMS charges within Australia

Here are the main charges that apply:

National SMS

29¢ per message sent per recipient

National MMS

50¢ per message sent per recipient

SMS to international numbers

35¢ per message sent per recipient

MMS to international numbers

75¢ per message sent per recipient

 + Data charges and usage

Once you’ve used your included data, you’ll be charged the pay-as-you-go rate of $2/MB from your Recharge Credit. Your included data can’t be used while you’re overseas.

To understand how much data you might need visit the Data Usage Calculator.

The best way to monitor your usage or check your data balance and expiry depends on the type of device your Telstra SIM is in.

You can also log in to Telstra 24x7 My Account online.

4G and 4GX Telstra Pre-Paid Wi-Fi devices indicate approximate data usage on the device screen or with LED lights. When connected, you can also access more information from your device’s home page at http://m.home. From here, you can manage your Wi-Fi password, monitor data usage and receive notifications of software updates.

 + Rollover

Recharge before your credit expiry date and roll over your unused Data and Recharge Credit. If you recharge before the recharge expiry date, your new recharge expiry date will be whichever of these is the later date:

  • The expiry date for your existing balance (before you recharged); or
  • The expiry date for your new recharge amount

 + Recharge

We recommend recharging with your credit/debit card or using a recharge voucher (available from a Telstra or partner store) via:

If you know your service number, you can also recharge at telstra.com/recharge. You don’t have to be connected to your mobile broadband service to do this. If you’ve registered for My Account, you can recharge your service from there too.

Automatic scheduled recharge is available once you’ve saved your payment details and set up a 4-digit recharge PIN. You can set it up using My Account or m.telstra.com.

Visit telstra.com/recharge for more information.

 + Using your service overseas

International roaming is automatically activated on your Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband service and you can use your Recharge Credit for data and SMS overseas.

The cost of using your service overseas is higher than in Australia.

Here are the main charges that apply:

Data while overseas – $3 per MB (charged per KB or part thereof).

We recommend you consider one of our International Roaming Browse Plus Packs, which can be purchased using your Recharge Credit balance. These packs provide a set amount of data to use in selected countries for 30 days.

+ Changing to a new plan

If you change to a different Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband plan, you may no longer receive Recharge Credit and you won’t be able to make Google Play purchases using included value. Price points, rollover rules, inclusions and expiry periods may also be different. So carefully compare the new plan with your Data Pass plan before changing, to ensure its right for you.

You may lose any remaining data when changing, and you also won’t be able to change back to Data Pass. You’ll need to recharge to get the benefits of your new plan.

Check out our current Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband plan available to you, and see here for instructions on how to change your plan.

 + Unlocking fee

If you want to use your Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband device on another network, you’ll need to pay a network unlocking fee.

Other important information

To keep your service active, you’ll need to recharge six months from your expiry date. After this time, you may need to purchase a new SIM card.

This is a summary only – the full legal terms for your service are contained in your agreement with Telstra, including Our Customer Terms.

Hi, I've a Telstra Night Hawk Netgear broadband wifi modem and its a message to say login to http://m.home.   But typical Telstra with it's assumption that everyone knows everything they don't explain how to access their own web page, to find the messages appearing on this wifi unit. There's been a fault with using this gear in regional WA, chewing data up when actually not!

How do you access their site http://m.home???, Telstra ask users of Night hawk to logon to that site.

Send messages not on account holders account, but available on this wifi unit,  but I am unable to access messages that appears on this wifi unit?

Frustrated with Telstra service, inability to write and provide instructions for those of us who just want to use the internet simply.
