t voice 503 - intercom between the phones is not working

I have 2 t 503 set up on the gateway and individually they are fine - incoming and outgoing calls are good BUT I can not get the phones to call each other - it says on the display calling no2 or what ever - there is no ring tone just a dial tone and the other one does not ring at all. I have repaired/registered the phones - turned the gateway of and back on still no communication between the 2

Can you confirm that you have defaulted the handsets, re-registered them and used the intercom button as described in the user guide?
