Telstra TV iView issue

Hi all, Every time i try to load ABC iView on the Telstra TV it just crashes back to whatever interface i was on before i tried to load it. i have tried deleting the app and reinstalling it multiple times, sometimes with a reset in between and still have had no success. Can anyone please help?

Having same problem. Rang 132200 as suggested. First person I spoke too seemed more interested in selling me extra services than fixing the problem. Eventually put through to Telstra TV specialist who admitted there was a problem but inform that me that it was a ABC iview problem and told to report problem to ABC iview direct. https://iviewsupport.abc.net.au/contact Was told that the ABC iview app on Telstra TV was designed by ABC iview staff.

As of yesterday this has now been recognised as a bug by ABC

Yes, having the same issue; checked telstra tv sw, did a system restart, deleted & then reinstalled iview app - but still doesn't work. Boots me back to telstra tv home screen.

We have the same issue with all 3 of our Telstra TV booze this last week. I think we need to call Telstra to find out what has happened.

Is it only the ABC app that's doing this, or are all of the FTA catchup channel apps problematic?

We are also experiencing the same issues, all other apps works fine (including youtube) only the ABC app has the issue ie will not load
The issue appeared to start after a software update. I have reset and re-loaded the SW several times with no effect.
Note: the ABC app works fine when using the ABC app from the TV direct, thus I believe the issue sits with the Telstra TV unit.

Same issue here, only specific to Telstra TV and only for the ABC iView app. All of our Telstra TV's have the same problem. Factory resetting didn't help, using different internet connections didn't help. Seems to be an issue with the ABC iView app on the Telstra TV only.

 

Contacted ABC iView last week, and received this response:

 

We will pass this information on to the development team.

Hopefully we will have an update for you soon.

 

In the meantime, as an alternative way to access iview on your TV, it is possible to connect your PC to your TV using an HDMI cable. I'm feeling left out. Watched Doctor Who today and a few other programs over the past week with no issues.

But yes, for all catchup TV service app faults you need to report them to the respective network.
Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

It's an odd issue. If you delete the app and reinstall it, the iView app will completely crash from now on and you can't use it anymore.

 

Anyone who hasn't reinstalled/downloaded the app or recently set up their Telstra TV lately might still be able to use it, might be thanks to the cache. Either way, definitely related to the app trying to reach something on the iView servers and then crashing as it can't get whatever it wants from there.

 

I'll provide an update if I hear back from the iView Support Team, if an app update is released, or if it starts working again.

Yes I’m having the same issue with the iView app. I have reported to both Telstra and iView. I notice there’s no Free to Air app on the Telstra TV either so no other way to watch catch up ABC for the kids?

I have 2 Telstra TV boxes. The older Telstra tv box loads abc iview. But the Telstra TV2 box (newer one) doesn’t. Very strange

This makes sense -- if you remove the iView app on your older Telstra TV and reinstall it, you will have it crash as well.

Still no update from the iView Support Team as of yet to me.

Same same. Just received my new T2 box and set it up only to find the ABC iView app not working. All others are fine. Kids devo. I’m really peeved as the old T box worked fine. Grr! Come on ABC team, get your stuff together.

I don't think this is just related to Telstra TV. Both my Telstra TV and my Sony Bravia Iview app are just crashing out with no error every time I try to start them. For now I am just mirroring from my phone with the Iview app on Android which I can luckily do to either device so I can catch up on Doctor Who.

Same problem with My Telstra TV 1 - Plugged it in for the first time in a year or so, everything else working but iView app dead, crashes back to home screen.

Yes it is possible to mirror the screen of devices that support miracast to Telstra TV.  Some androids devices version 4.1 and later versionsions and most Windows PCs support miracast. Miracast is built into Windows 8 and 10 but some android device require a app such as local cast. Apple devices don’t support miracast.

Installed Tv2 last week.
Iview is only app I am having trouble with.
Like others, have deleted and reinstalled without success.
The app runs and displays the logo and then closes.
It's certainly a software issue on the TV2 and need to be fixed.
Clients don't really want to get into a dispute between Telstra and Iview coders.
We would just like Iview to work on our Telstra Tv box. please fix it.
Checking for software updates each day.

iView Support has let me know that the issue is now resolved, and the iView app has been updated. Smiley Happy

 


Thanks for the patience while we were working on the Telstra TV issue.


We have just released a fix for the issue and you can be up and viewing again after updating the firmware on your Telstra TV device.

I had the same problem. Whilst playing with the settings I changed my resolution from 1080 to 720 and iview worked. Got no idea why this is but all is well.

Sounds like your issue was caused by a bandwidth problem. Changing the resolution down to 720 from 1080 reduces the required bandwidth by approximately half.
Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

That's right, Telstra TV's auto update once every 24 hours, so the issue will resolve itself by tomorrow for everyone, or you can manually update for the fix to arrive right now (if it hasn't yet).
