DNS Propagation is for Telstra Users

Hello

I have noticed that this issue has been mentioned elsewhere on this form. I am having major issues and receiving complaints from clients that have internet with telstra who cannot access my website a day after a domain name server update. The website is atsijobs.com.au. It is accessible through mobiles but not when using a desktop. Is there a solution for this and can you speed up your refresh of DNS cache somehow?

Ben

Re: DNS Propagation is for Telstra Users

Hi @BB771,

just as a sidenote - your website is not functioning very well. Just out of the curiosity, I clicked on "Indigenous jobs in Hobart" and got offered jobs (apparently 1km from Hobart) in Sydney, Perth and all other cities 😁
Secondly, you are collecting personal information at http://atsijobs.com.au/login/ - it is really bad idea to do so without encryption!!!
Third, your password validator is bit weird. This 6psE9_"f is considered as a weak password. That is perfectly randomly generated password that would be extremely hard to crack...

Re: DNS Propagation is for Telstra Users

Thanks ForensicsGuru. The site is currently being redeveloped because of an update to the job board theme which is what is causing some of those issues (location search and the login page). Those items will be resolved soon but thank you for the observations. Part of this process was the DNS upgrade which required a DNS change, which still doesn't seem to be working from telstra computers. Any advice would be appreciated as the propagation seems to have occurred elsewhere but not with telstra.

Re: DNS Propagation is for Telstra Users

I am still at work, so I could not check on Telstra connection as yet, will do as soon as I reach my home... 24 hours should be pretty long enough for it, but I have seen it taking longer on other networks than Telstra... It could possibly also be DNS caching at your clients. Flushing DNS would be the first thing I would suggest... I have also seen it when people set static DNS servers (thinking how clever they were) and pointed them to servers that were kept for legacy purposes but not maintained anymore...

Also to avoid Google Chrome marking your site Not secure:

I warmly recommend to move the whole site (not only login etc) to https.

Thank you, that would be good if you could check from your end when home. The new SSL should also be active in the next few hours.

Re: DNS Propagation is for Telstra Users

Hi there @BB771,
works perfectly on Telstra NBN in Tassie... Both http and https... So, you need to set up permanent redirect from http to https...
Perusing DNS propagation complaints here, they mostly appear from Queensland (?!?) and when reading details, they are sometimes/often related to issues I mentioned - manually set non-maintained DNS servers etc... I am not saying there is no Telstra problem, but I am saying that often the problem is at the end users...
Wishing you that everything gets resolved and all the luck with your business...
