No call. But data on unlocked O phone

I have an unlocked Optus network Oppo A73 and have out my Telstra sim it and am unable to make or receive calls.

I have tried an Optus sim and it work like a dream. I out the Telstra sim in and nothing happens.

I am unsure what to do or what to try to resolve my issue. Are there *# codes that flush system settings and replace them with critical Telstra settings ?

Sum up. Unlocked A73 not allowing me to call or receive calls from my Telstra sim

Have you tried going into Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators

If not set to Select Auto, do a Network Scan and select Telstra.

yes have done this. it always just refers back to settings. I spoke to OPPO today and they suggested that the bands for other networks are disabled at the factory level for optus. im not sure it has the capability of connecting to Telstra frequencies..

Re: No call. But data on unlocked O phone

According to Optus Oppo A73 specs all the Telstra frequency bands are available for 4G. The only difference is 3G where Telstra uses 850 and Optus uses 900.

3G Network
900/1900/2100 MHz

4G Network
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/3/5/7/8/20/28
TD-LTE: Bands 38/39/40/41

3G bands

850MHz (B5) – Telstra Vodafone
900MHz (B8) – Optus, Vodafone –
2100MHz (B1) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone

Mandatory handset band support

Telstra – 3G 850MHz (B5)
Optus – 3G 900MHz (B8)
Vodafone – 3G 900MHz (B8) 850MHz (B5)

4G/LTE bands

Australia is currently using these LTE bands
2100Mhz (B1) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Tasmania), Vodafone
1800Mhz (B3) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
850Mhz (B5) – Vodafone
2600Mhz (B7) – Telstra, Optus
900Mhz (B8) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
700Mhz (B28) – Telstra, Optus
2300Mhz (B40) – Optus (Vivid Wireless spectrum)

When you tap "Search Networks do get a list of networks as image below and if you do is the Telstra Network available.

Re: No call. But data on unlocked O phone

While it has the hardware for the Telstra 3G network, it would appear that that radio has been disabled in the firmware.

Without the appropriate 3G band, calls will not work as this model phone doesn't support VoLTE on the Telstra 4G network. Hence why you are getting data, but no calls.
