Travelling to NZ with Galaxy s4, unlocked?
I am travelling to New Zealand in a couple of weeks and have a Galaxy S4 on a current Telstra contract. I have been told that these phones are already unlocked, but when I tried my girlfriends Optus sim card in it it did not work.
I am planning on getting a NZ prepaid sim card for the month I am there, but want to be sure my phone will work on their network. And don't want the hassle of getting it to work when over there.
Also does it matter which provider I use in NZ, are they all on a similar technology/frequency?

What message did the phone show (Emergency Calls Only)? The handet may be set to Manual Network Selection. Try going in to settings and make sure it is on Automatic Selection. You will also need to make sure it is set to search all bands.
The S4 should work on 3G only with Telecom New Zealand, 2G only with Two Degrees and 2G/3G with Vodafone NZ.
