Apple Watch

Telstra is saying I cannot connect my new Apple Watch to my IPhone as I have a monthly plan and no longer pay for my iPhone. I was told the only way I can use my Apple Watch away from my iPhone is if I buy a new phone and pay it off or change services. Can someone help me? It seems ridiculous. Surely other people are the same. I have friends with Vodaphone and Optus that have paid for their phones outright and are able to have cellular coverage for $5 a month.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Apple Watch

Which monthly plan are you currently on?.

If it’s one of the new Upfront Mobile plans, One Number is not currently available, but should be soon.

Have a look a the My Telstra app > Services > Mobile > Extras > Available Extras, and see if One Number is listed.

Re: Apple Watch

Thank you for replying. I don’t have that option on under “extra” button.

How long until it will be available and how will I get notified that it will be possible?

I wasn’t told this when I purchased the watch, the sales person looked at my plan and said it would work. I only bought the watch purely for the purpose of not having to take my phone all the time. So disappointed.

Is it an Upfront Mobile plan?.

Re: Apple Watch

Yes it is upfront. The guy who sold me the Apple Watch changed my plan from $85 to $65 with more data. Initially it was $120 with the phone but I just recently came out of contract.

Re: Apple Watch

Possibly the 11th May 2021 for Telstra One Number to become available on Upfront Plans (note: this is just a rumour that we've heard. No official confirmation).

What you got told about having paid off your phone and having to buy a new one was complete bollocks. You should lodge a complaint about whoever told you that via https://telstra.com/complaints

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Re: Apple Watch

There have been some comments in this forum about those plans having One Number enabled in mid May.

If that does occur, it’s not far away.

Re: Apple Watch

Jupiter posted while I was editing & my phone connection locked, so I unknowingly posted a similar comment.
