Dual Sim Telstra ESim with Iphone 11 - two phone lines?

Answered

Having read the FAQ on this site and also spoken to a Telstra rep in store, I am confused. The FAQ on this site says Telstra does support dual sim with an Esim and that you can make and receive calls on both lines. However, the in store rep told me I couldn't. Only one line could be used to make calls and the other line could be used for data. This is the opposite of what I read elsewhere and what Apple says. My question is -- Is it possible to have a Telstra purchased iphone, with a telstra ESim and another sim (Aldi) on the same phone and make and receive calls on both lines? Or does Telstra mess with the default capability of the iphone in some way so that only one line can be used for calls?

Hi @34Meerkat Dual SIM is the capability of your device to manage 2 services at once. An eSIM is an embedded SIM that’s already built into a compatible device when you buy it. You can certainly have a handset that's Dual SIM compatible. Both are capable of making calls, just like any regular SIM they two are independent. To use different providers you'll need to have an unlocked device though.

You can find out more here: https://tel.st/u4yac;

It sounds like the agent in store may have been referring to One Number, which is used for accessories like Apple Watches and provides data via eSIM: https://tel.st/2zr6c.

I hope this helps.
