Can Telstra track my lost phone with my mobile number? I don't have any tracking app on that phone

No. Telstra can't track your phone. If you have find my phone set up on your iPhone, then you should be able to locate it through your Apple ID.

Go to https://www.icloud.com/#find to try it.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
