iOS 14.5 telstra tv app

I just upgraded my iPhone to iOS 14.5 and now the telstra tv app is not working.

 

it still works on my old iPad that has the old operating system.

Is anyone else having the same issue and is there a fix?

I have found the same error after the update to iOS 14.5 today.

tried deleting Telstra Tv app, rebooted Settop box rebooted modem, restarted IPhone, keeps saying 

  Looks like Telstra needs to update their app to fix problem

It's a problem with iOS 14.5. Apple introduced more bugs again.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

I would be contacting Apple Support to explain the situation so they are aware of the problem.

I have the same problem, all three telstra TVs won’t connect since ios14.5. Really frustrating - can’t use the headphone set up👎

I have the same problem. Since upgrading to 14.5 the app can no longer find the Telstra RV device. My wife’s iPhone is still on 14.4 and works ok. 
I have checked and both Telstra tv and app are fully upgraded

Try getting on to our support team using the MyTelstra app. Tap on 'Get help' to connect through to a consultant. - Glenn

Hi Matthew,

 

Yes. I have checked for updates and even reinstalled both the app and also factory reset the telstra tv box.

 

None of these things fix it. 

 

I believe it is an apple ios issue as the app still works on my old ipad. Just hoping you have an update for the app to make it work on ios14.5

I have now reported it through Telstra 24x7 app and have the following responses 

“It might not support with that version (14.5) will escalate this case to our technical team and request them to work on it asap

Once we get an update will contact you for sure through sms“

 

while we wait, there are a few generic Roku remote apps in apple store and the one I downloaded works ok and has all the basic remote control functions

I have exactly the same problem. I decided to update my iPad which was okay for Telstra tv, but, guess what it also now does not work with Telstra TV App remote. Now my iPhone and iPad do not work with the Remote option on the TTV App.

It is clear the problem has been caused by Apple ioS upgrade from 14.4 to 14.5.  It has been reported to Telstra technical teams who will work on resolving the problem.

Considering you now have a reference number perhaps you could consider reporting the matter to the Telstra Chief Executive Officer? That usually results in a helpful response from an English-speaking agent based in Australia.

At least the Telstra support team appears to be "escalating" the matter - no doubt by "reaching out" to others with the aim of resolving the matter "in the fullness of time"?

Has anyone had success with the Telstra app on IOS 14.5?

It seems designated members of various Telstra teams are reaching out to specialists in different poarts of the world to see what can be done. But resolution could be some time considering there are complex issues to be worked through and resolved. I guess we could be talking about weeks possibly months?

A workaround is to use an older Iphone that has NOT been upgraded to IOS 14.5. I am using my spare and it continues to work fine.

The workaround I am using is a generic Roku remote control app which does most of what I need. The one I use is “Roku TV Remote Control”. Clearly it does not do everything that the Telstra TV app does but it does the basics just fine

Telstra TV Box have a Contact Us page in which they state:

Get help and support, troubleshoot your service, or get in touch with us.

 

I would suggest that you take up their offer and get in touch and describe your issue, and possibly include a link to this thread.
