Hi, my wife's iPad stopped working on 4G on Sunday morning (7/3). It seems that Telstra has made some changes recently that has tagged the iPad as ineligible for data-only plan.
Here were my troubleshooting steps
1. Reset Network Settings - typically the first step Telstra Support tells you to do - can access Telstra.com but no other sites.
2. Used the Sim Card on different iPad - successful in accessing any site
3. Purchased new Telstra SIM, activated as data-only and tested on different iPad before using on wife's iPad - can access Telstra.com but no other sites.
4. Tested with Vodafone SIM on iPad and successfully accessed any sites.
5. Tested with a Mobile Phone SIM on iPad and successfully access any sites.
This indicates that Telstra is somehow blocking the iPad from using data-only
a) can access Telstra.com sites over 4G, proving there is connectivity (1, 3)
b) SIM works on another iPad over 4G, proving that the SIM Service is active (2, 3)
c) can access any sites over 4G with Vodafone, proving that 4G access is fine on the device. (4)
d) can access any sites over 4G with Mobile Phone Prepaid, proving that 4G access on Telstra is fine on device (5)
Anyone with deep knowledge of how Telstra tags device/service plans?

Try changing the APN to telstra.iph
Failing that, check the iPad that did work and see which APN it is using.

Failing that, check the iPad that did work and see which APN it is using.

That is genius! That worked.
note though, the working iPad (MPMG2X/X) was on telstra.wap
this iPad (MX722X/A) didn’t work on telstra.wap, but now works on telstra.iph
this changed sometime between Sat (6/3) and Sun (7/3)
hopefully the next network update won’t kill it.
