Telstra say their system is down is this true?

Hi there.

It is unfortunately correct that we have experienced issues with our systems this week. As of right now, the majority of system functions should be back up and running, however some types of system requests may still experience delays.

What were you trying to get sorted out when you spoke to the team recently?
