Question about billing and backorder

I'm about to upgrade by handset, but the model I'm ordering is on backorder.

My question is - do I get charged for the new handset before I receive it?

If this is being done as a 'service' upgrade then as @Jupiter says you shouldn't be charged until the device is dispatched especially if you are you upgrading with device repayment plan, as part of you bill.

 

If you are buying the handset outright, that should be the same, but check your emails, just in case.

 

But, if you are buying the device as a Telstra Plus reward, that will have the points deducted immediately on receipt of order.

You shouldn't be charged until after it is dispatched (1-2 days before you receive it).

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Thanks for the info. I didn't there would be any charge until dispatch. 

 

It's an existing contract that I am adding a phone to with monthly payments for the handset

Set it & forget it

With direct debit there’s no need to give paying your bill another thought.

Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again.
