Can't access my website using wifi

Answered

I can't access my own website using my wifi (Netgear Telstra Gateway Pro V-7610) but I can if I turn the wifi off and use 4G. I used to be able to get to it using Opera as a workaround (a VPN) but no more. I have spent many many hours on the phone to Telstra trying to sort this out, been back to my webhost, my website builder with their ideas for why the issue rests elsewhere (never does) and now I am still without a solution. It drives me nuts.

Any help gratefully received - I'm no guru clearly so please speak english and offer instructions for a beginner if you dont mind. Thankyou!

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

It means that it isn't a DNS issue, your computer knows where to look for your site.

It suggests that the blocking is happening at your web hosting. The server is not accepting the connection when you are connected via your broadband connection.

You are getting responses from every link in the chain, except the actual web host.

I would be logging in to the Control Panel for the website hosting and looking in the security section to see if any IP addresses are blocked.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

Can you run a traceroute and post it here?

I can see the website from my non-Telstra connection.

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

It's failing at the last step (103.252.152.129 to 103.27.32.16), which is within the Synergy Wholesale network.

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

It works Ok on my Telstra NBN connection.

The administrator of the site might be blocking the IP address of your modem.

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

I'm pretty sure that was suggested months back and there was no block - we checked a few things then

Thankyou both, I'm waiting on a response from my web host service to check that and will come back with the answer.

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

No block evident at the webhosting for my IP address, he has raised a ticket with Synergy to see if there's something else within their system that's blocking it. Interesting

Re: Can't access my website using wifi

Here's what came back from Synergy:

From Synergy:

"Hey ....,

Thank you for submitting a Support Request with us today.

It looks like that IP address was indeed on our block list.

This is possibly due to it being shared IP which a lot of ISP's use.

This can mean another person using the same IP was doing the wrong thing and had the IP blocked.

I've removed the block for you now and they shouldn't have any issues connecting, though let me know if they do."

Thankyou thankyou brains here, you've been the key to helping me sort out an issue that no-one could get to the bottom of. I am eternally grateful!
