Free calls from Telstra’s public payphones
Kudos to Telstra and Mr Andrew Penn (CEO) for their decision to make local and national calls to standard fixed line numbers, and calls to standard Australian mobile phones free when calling from Telstra’s public payphones (from today).
In the announcement Mr Penn eloquently states:
“I know payphones are also a lifeline for thousands of vulnerable Australians – the homeless, the isolated, those escaping domestic violence – and often provide their only link to critical support services and those that care about them.”

Re: Free calls from Telstra’s public payphones
"I know that Telstra won't have to pay contractors to empty the small amount of money in thousands of public phones, and this will save them a zillion" Me-thinks ....
