@Telstra: you have won - Scam or real?

Answered

Just received an email @telstra: you have won. It goes on to say that "we randomly choose 10 happy visitors who receive a give-away from our sponsors. This is our way of saying thank you because you are a loyal telstra user. To win all you have to do is answer the 4 following questions". Is this real or is this some kind of scam?

Hi qmg100.

I have seen the email you are talking about and this is 100% a scam.

We have info here on how what to do if you see or receive online scams https://tel.st/fpc3u as well as being able to report this via the "Misuse of Telstra Service" form https://tel.st/92wfr. You can also report this to the Australian Communications & Media Authority here: ACMA http://www.acma.gov.au/

It is probably a scam, but would need more evidence such as the exact email address and if there is a link in the email the exact link, It is easy to disguise  link. To see the actual link hover over the link with the mouse. The link should be displayed.

Hi @qmg100

Whatever you do, don't click the link. Otherwise, that will confirm to them the email address is live and you will be bombarded with spam.

Footnote: I dont work for Telstra, I just try to help out fellow Telstra customers.
