Outgoing email messages capped

Can anyone help me? I have a Samsung Tablet. I use Samsung email. When typing outgoing messages, I am told i can't go beyond 452 characters. Samsung tells me this is probably because my internet provider, which is Telstra has perhaps set a data limit. I only use a fraction of the data allowance each month on the internet. How can I alter the email data allowance so that I can write reasonable length emails? The Help function Telstra provides doesn't help me at all.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Outgoing email messages capped

I've sent plenty of emails a lot longer than 452 characters on all my mobiles.over the last several years. Never heard of a character limit cap besides the length of the subject line, only an attachment size limit (20MB off the top of my head).

I am Complex Customer Service Specialist, nominally working with most assurance products. However, I am not an official representative on CrowdSupport.

Re: Outgoing email messages capped

What is the exact error message that you are getting? The 452 would correspond to the error code for the maximum number of sent messages being exceeded.

Re: Outgoing email messages capped

The message says that you have exceeded 512 characters, then it won 't allow me to type further. The cursor is red, rather than the  normal black cursor.

Re: Outgoing email messages capped

I can't find anything that would cause an error like that to appear. Which model Tablet is it? I tried on my Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and the emails are working fine.

It sounds like a problem with the Tablet software itself. If it was the email server, then the error wouldn't occur until after you sent the message.

Re: Outgoing email messages capped

Thank you for the trouble you've taken to try to solve my problem. My tablet is a Galaxy Tab S3. The weird thing is that if I'm replying to an email sent from someone as an attached email, the cursor is in black, rather than red and I can type as much as I like! Try to do an email from scratch however and the cursor turns to red and after a very short message, the problem that I've described occurs. I've spent ages searching all the settings for Samsung email, but can't find anything that would explain this. I could perhaps go back to Factory default settings on the keyboard but am afraid this might create an unforeseen problem.
