By pay as you go do you mean prepaid, I don't see how they can add costs to your account only consume the prepaid amount, if it can absorb $131, you must have a large prepaid account. There must be an explanation in your billing as to what it is for.

If it is an actual plan, pretty much all the plans now have either got extra data, where you are charged $10 per GB for extra data or piece of mind data where it slows instead of being charged extra.

If you are on a prepaid offer Kevin.Hutch is correct, it can only use your credit. If you selected Long Life Plus data would be charged at $0.10 per MB of data, so it could be possible to use up quite a bit of credit that way.
