Connecting Gateway max to a switch

Answered

Hello

i have a Telstra Max2 gateway in a hub cabinet. All our rooms have a wired connection to the hub cabinet and then connected to the T max2 which connects to the Telstra ADSL 2.

We we only have I internet port per room so in the living room I am trying to increase the number of internet ports by one ting a net gear 5 port gigabit Ethernet switch. That is what t)3 guy in JB hi fi recommended. However if I connect the TVs through the switch it can't seem to connect to the internet. If I connect the tv to directly to the internet port in the room then it works.

Can anyone tell me how to make this work?

Re: Connecting Gateway max to a switch

Turn all devices off.

Plug the LAN cable from the wall into the WAN port of the Switch.

Then plug the devices into the LAN ports.

Plug the power in to the Ethernet switch and turn on.

Wait 30 seconds.

Then turn on devices.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Re: Connecting Gateway max to a switch

I would recommend contacting Telstra Platinum on 137 587 for assistance with configuring the 3rd party device.

If you would like assistance from The Crowd, I would suggest providing information such as:

- The exact model of your switch & hub cabinet

- What ports you have connected your TV and the cable from the modem into

- Do any other devices work when connected through the switch?
