Connectivity of smart plugs to Smart Modem

I have successfully connected Google nests to my wireless network but can’t get TuyaSmart smart plugs to connect at all despite following manufacturer’s instructions strictly and trying numerous times. It’s an NBN FTTN service, Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 with voice backup, Model LH1000. Any clues? Wanting to buy more smart plugs (TP-Link) but not if I have to spend another 10 hours tearing my own hair out!

Re: Connectivity of smart plugs to Smart Modem

You need to turn band steering off in the modem so that your modem broadcasts separate 2.4 & 5GHz wifi networks. The Tuya Wifi module can only use 2.4GHz wifi.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Telstra Smart Modem

Plug in and connect in minutes. Smart.
